What is the difference between "100% Blade-Free LASIK (IntraLase)" and "Traditional LASIK?"
What is the difference between "100% Blade-Free LASIK (IntraLase)" and "Traditional LASIK?"
LASIK surgery is actually a 2-step process. First, a flap of corneal tissue is created and then folded back so the surgeon is able to perform the treatment on the inner layer of the cornea, which nearly eliminates any discomfort and allows for a rapid visual recovery.
Historically, the surgeon created the corneal flap with a hand-held mechanical instrument that houses a metal blade. Of reported complications, this mechanical blade is frequently the source.
With Blade-Free LASIK, the surgeon uses the precision of a laser to create the corneal flap. The accuracy of the laser is unparalleled. This advanced technology puts unprecedented control in the hands of the surgeon, and allows him to customize the corneal flap for every individual patient. Because of its consistent accuracy, IntraLase now makes it possible to treat many patients who were dismissed as candidates for laser vision correction due to thin corneas.
When can I return to work and normal activities?
Most patients see well the next day and notice dramatic improvement within the first few days following the procedure. Most patients are able to drive a car and return to work within one to three days.
Is laser vision correction painful?
