Mini Facelift

It seems that lately everyone wants to promote their latest version of a “non-surgical facelift”. What about the “surgical facelift”? From “Thermage” to the “Thread Lift”, we are being bombarded with claims so impressive that you would think that the surgical facelift was obsolete. Nothing could be further from the truth.   In fact, facelift surgery, or rhytidectomy, remains the gold standard for facial rejuvenation and gives a more complete restoration of facial form than any other procedure.

Facelifting techniques are constantly being revised and updated by many prominent Plastic Surgeons throughout the world. A recent trend has been towards less invasive, less risky procedures alternately known as “Short-scar” or “Mini-facelifts”.   At the Center for Cosmetic Surgery Dr.’s Andrew Wolfe and Steven Vath have embraced these new developments in an effort to decrease the cost, risk, and recovery associated with facial rejuvenation surgery. While full facelifts are still indicated for patients with profound signs of facial aging, many patients seeking to lessen the effects of age are candidates for a Mini Facelift.

The Mini-facelift involves shorter scars than a standard facelift, and is usually performed as an outpatient procedure lasting 2 to 3 hours. The surgery can be performed under sedation instead of general anesthesia, further reducing risk and recovery time, and most patients are back at work within two weeks. Despite its relatively quick operative time and recovery, the Mini-facelift is powerful tool in facial rejuvenation surgery, correcting sagging of the cheeks, jowls, and neck. It may be combined with eyelid or brow surgery for a more global improvement.

Not everyone is a candidate for the Mini-facelift. Ideal candidates are non-smokers in good general health with normal or medically-controlled blood pressure. During a complimentary consultation with Dr. Wolfe or Dr. Vath a complete medical history and facial exam will be performed to help you develop a treatment plan best suited to your particular needs. No two patients are the same, and we pride ourselves on respecting the individuality of everyone we see.
